CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS

Fundamentals of Faux Series

All the classes below are arranged to benefit the beginning faux enthusiast as well as the professional wanting additional product and technique knowledge.  Questions concerning working with designers and clients will also be addressed.  Each student will take home sample boards (poster board size) and instruction sheets.  As the class size is limited to 6 students, care can be taken to make sure individual attention is given. To ensure that the class is not extensively held up by one student, time can be set up after class to help anyone who may need additional help with a technique.  The classes are taught in a friendly, relaxed, as well as organized, atmosphere.  Students may decide to take 1,3 or 5 days.  A certificate of completion is given at the end of 5 days.

Thursday, March 22: Wall and Furniture Glazing, Students will complete samples of various techniques using slow drying Aquaglaze™ and latex paint.  After completing some basic exercise of classic finishes we will delve into a multi toned “tuscan glaze”, a 1 and 2 color drifted glaze (softly like the background of marble), frottage (a French rubbed technique) and a faux leather (also covering glazing on a dark background).  Students will also complete a cabinet door or drawer sample with a basic glazing technique.  Wall and furniture prep techniques will be discussed and/or demonstrated.  $225.00
Friday & Saturday, March 23&24: Specialty Finishes I, Explore various media and techniques to achieve specialty finishes such as; clouded skies (landscape and ceiling), veined marble, faux bois (wood-graining) faux limestone, trompe l’oeil (fool the eye) travertine stone blocks, aged distressed metallic (great for ceilings) and very popular tissue paper techniques.  $425.00
Sunday & Monday, March 25 & 26: Specialty Finishes II (Textures), Delve into the stone finishes that are so popular today, exploring various plaster and stone products and techniques.  Some of the samples completed will be; Olde World Stone (great in French or Italian style kitchens, as well as other rooms), lime washed Sandstone, Veneziano (a true lime based Italian plaster), textured stone tiles, bas relief with stencils and modellos.  Walk away with impressive samples for your portfolio and practical knowledge to help you achieve the right look for you or your client.  $475.00
